Flying insects

Control of flying insects in livestock facilities

Flies, mosquitoes and other flying insects find favourable conditions in livestock facilities to feed, breed and rapidly increase their numbers. As well as causing nuisance and stress to animals, they can act as mechanical vectors of pathogens and move between different areas of the facility. An insecticide for flying insects should be part of a preventive strategy that combines treatment with hygiene measures, waste management and the reduction of breeding sites. Acting early limits population growth and reduces their impact on biosafety and animal welfare.

Fly prevention and control on farms

Flies are one of the most common pests in livestock environments because of the availability of organic matter, moisture and other substrates suitable for their development. An insecticide for flies on farms acts on the adult population, but its efficacy must be supported by correctly identifying the areas of greatest activity and by measures to reduce breeding sites. Regular monitoring makes it possible to detect population increases and adapt the frequency of interventions. Combining these treatments with cleaning and control of the development stages helps to achieve a more complete and lasting strategy against flies.
